Jurassic Park

Is a photographic series created in Solio Game Reserve, Kenya, where over 600 black and white rhinos move through grass, dust and mud with a presence that feels prehistoric, closer to the Jurassic era than to the present day. Their skin, their weight and their pace belong to another time, as if the landscape had not yet changed around them.

To photograph them, I lay flat on the ground and wait. The distance closes slowly, step by step, until their breathing is close and the ground vibrates. You remain still until they finally sense you, stop, and turn away. The encounter ends not when you decide, but when they do.

These images exist because this area is protected, and remind us how important conservation work is. They document animals that survive through constant monitoring and long-term conservation effort.
