Leading the Way

On the very first morning in Amboseli, shortly after arriving in the park, a line of elephants began crossing the dry lake bed with Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the distance. It was the kind of scene every wildlife photographer hopes for, but one that unfolds quickly and offers only one chance to get it right.

A remote camera was carefully positioned on the elephants’ path, with no certainty they would follow the expected line—or avoid stepping directly onto the equipment. Led by the matriarch, the family continued exactly as hoped, moving calmly towards Mount Kilimanjaro, simply known to many local Maasai as “the Mountain.”

The photograph captures more than a perfectly aligned herd. It reflects the quiet confidence of an experienced matriarch, whose decisions guide every member of her family across one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes.

All works are produced as archival pigment prints to museum standards.
Each print is personally reviewed and approved by me before release.
All prints are issued in strictly limited editions (from 5 to 15) and are signed and numbered.
Once an edition is sold out, it is never reprinted.
Each photograph is offered in different sizes depending on the work.
Each print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
The works presented in the shop are a curated selection.
