Early one morning in Solio Game Reserve, a solitary white rhinoceros stood motionless in the open grasslands. Photographed from ground level, with nothing interrupting the horizon, the landscape was reduced to its simplest elements: earth, sky and a single animal.
The minimal composition reflects the quiet character of Solio itself, where wide open spaces allow wildlife to exist without distraction. Alone against an endless horizon, the rhinoceros becomes more than the subject of the photograph. It becomes a symbol of endurance, occupying the landscape with the same calm presence that has defined the species for millennia.
Alone against an endless horizon, the rhinoceros needs nothing more than space to define its presence.
